Looking for something special to do for the mamas in your life on Mother’s Day? How about throwing your own simple, scrumptious tea party?

It’s easier than you might think to plan the perfect tea party. Here’s how:

1. Set up a tea bar

Sometimes the best part about a cup of tea is everything leading up to that first sip—deciding which tea you’re in the mood for, picking out the perfect teacup or teapot in which to brew your tea, and the anticipation of that lovely first sip as you wait for the water to boil.

Why not add a bit of this tea preparation ceremony to your tea party? Just set up your own simple tea bar for your Mother’s Day tea party guests using these key ingredients:

A tea bar set up makes for a beautiful display and an interactive party. Each guest can make her own cup (or several cups) of tea throughout the duration of the party and she can try various tea blends depending on her mood.

2. Choose mama-friendly teas

If you’re inviting mamas-to-be or brand new mamas who may be breastfeeding, you’ll want to make sure and have a nice herbal, caffeine-free tea selection to choose from.

If you plan to include a Birds & Bees Teas selection in your Mother’s Day tea tea bar, we’d have to recommend Easy Naps & Calm Nights and Ripe & Ready.

  • Easy Naps & Calm Nights is a soothing blend with chamomile, skullcap and lavender. This is a great, caffeine-free blend for kiddos, too, if little ones will be in attendance. And you don’t even have to be a mama to want to relax, right? This blend is great for anyone in the family.
  • Ripe & Ready was originally designed with beneficial herbs to be sipped during the last few weeks of pregnancy. But it’s such a deliciously spiced blend, with hibiscus, cinnamon and allspice berries, that it’s quickly become a favorite sip for anyone, anytime.

Both Easy Naps & Calm Nights and Ripe & Ready make great iced teas, too! Simply add 5 Tablespoons of either of these loose leaf tea blends to a large French press, pour in boiling water (about 4 cups) and steep for 10 to 15 minutes. Strain into ice-filled glasses and serve.

3. Serve tasty tea-inspired treats

A selection of truly tea-inspired edibles will provide the perfect complement your tea bar selection. Here are some adorable and delicious-looking recipes we’ve always wanted to try:

4. Set the tea party tone

Teacups and teapots aren’t just for serving. Be creative by turning your unused teacup collection into adorable centerpieces for your tea party table. We just love these inspiring teacup flower arrangement ideas we found on Pinterest.

5. Send tea-themed invitations

Now that you’ve figured out how to set up your party, you’ll need to decide who to invite. Your mom? Your sisters? A group of your best mom friends? Keeping the tea theme in mind, and so they know what to expect, send a cute little tea-themed invitation.

These adorable tea invitation ideas from Martha Stewart (who else?) are too cute and too easy not to attempt.

Of course, if you’d rather go the electronic route, there are plenty of cute tea party invitation themes from online invitation companies. We especially like this one from Paperless Post. But just search “tea party” on your favorite online invitation website and you’re bound to find dozens of adorable tea-themed ideas.

6. Let us know how it turns out . . . and you could win a free tin of Birds & Bees Teas!

We hope you enjoy your Mother’s Day, whether you throw your own tea party or not. We’d just like to hear how you celebrate the mamas in your life.
