Introducing Pregnancy-Friendly, Tea-Infused Truffles Introducing Pregnancy-Friendly, Tea-Infused Truffles

22 Oct , 2013

It’s true! Tea and chocolate you can eat during pregnancy. We’re excited to announce we’ve partnered with Denver, Colorado, based chocolatier, Ziva Chocolates, to infuse Birds & Bees’ pregnancy-safe teas into delectable white chocolate truffles.

Since pregnancy can sometimes feel like it’s filled with things you can’t sip or can’t eat, this is a nice treat that you can absolutely enjoy.

So what’s in chocolate that’s good for you, anyway?

We chose to launch our truffles with white chocolate because of what’s not in it, actually. White chocolate has no caffeine, just like our caffeine-free, herbal tea blends. Because white chocolate lacks the cocoa solids that dark chocolate contains, it does not feature some benefits associated with dark chocolate you may have heard about, like being high antioxidants and containing theobromine to lower blood pressure. But white chocolate does contain calcium and can be a decent source of phosphorous and riboflavin.

Of course, everything in small quantities is best. And this is our first journey into tea-infused truffles, so, who knows, dark chocolate may be in our future!

For now, our one-of-a-kind tea-infused truffles are made with a white chocolate ganache center that’s infused with a tea reduction and covered in a white chocolate shell. They are available as 2- or 5-pack gift sets in each of our Birds & Bees tea flavors:

  • Easy Naps & Calm Nights: The relaxing chamomile flowers from this tea blend come through as light and floral notes in this delicately flavored truffle.
  • Ripe & Ready: The spicy cinnamon and citrusy orange notes from this tea blend complement the white chocolate perfectly.
  • Light Hearted: If you love lavender, you’ll love this truffle. It’s fabulously floral, with lavender at the front and hints of the meadowsweet, calendula, chamomile flowers featured in the tea blend at the finish.
  • Our Lady of La Leche: The fenugreek from this blend lends a strong maple flavor to the truffle, giving it hints of caramel and a nutty richness.
  • Family Immunity: This is a complex truffle with an earthy and slightly citrus-y flavor, featuring hints of the elderberries, rosehips and goji berries from the blend.
  • Peaceful Pregnancy: This truffle is the perfect example of how perfectly rose and chocolate pair together.

It has been such a pleasure to collaborate with Ziva Chocolates. We have so much in common as women-owned business owners catering to mothers and their families. And it’s just amazing to taste our teas infused in chocolate. We look forward to this continued journey with Ziva as the passionate chefs continue to create fantastic new ideas for future tea-infused treats.

You’ll be able to buy our gorgeous truffles through our website soon. But for now you can find them in Denver, Colorado at:

Our pregnancy-friendly, tea-infused chocolate truffles will be available at other retail locations soon.

We’ll keep you posted!

P.S. What’s you’re favorite chocolate indulgence?
