What’s the Tea?

Which Birds & Bees teas are right for you in which stage of prenatal, pregnancy, and postpartum?

Hey, mamas!

We hope you’re doing well, wherever you are in your motherhood journey. Some of you have asked, and now it’s time for us to give you an answer to the question, “Which teas do I drink, and when?!” There is a graphic on some of the individual pages for our teas. But we decided to make the “what tea should I buy?” decision-making process easier for you by putting a list in one place! Here’s a list of our teas and other resources, and what they’re good for!

Grounding:

Our Grounding tea has trace minerals and nutrients that have been used to build the blood, calm nerves, and support the liver.

  • This tea is great for boosting fertility!
  • Can be used throughout pregnancy to keep your liver, blood, and nerves balanced.
  • Can be used to balance your body, and bring your systems back to normal after birth.
  • This tea is also great for when Aunt Flo comes to visit to assist with regulating your cycle and decreasing menstrual pain.
  • Grounding is also great for women going through menopause!

Peaceful Pregnancy:

Peaceful Pregnancy tea is high in essential nutrients and trace minerals that are necessary during preconception, pregnancy, and beyond. Using this blend would be a wonderful complement to a food-based prenatal vitamin

  • This tea is to be used mainly during the first to third trimester of pregnancy.
  • It is a wonderful addition to your daily nutritional self-care!
  • Promotes a sense of peace and calm during pregnancy.

Ripe & Ready:

Ripe and Ready tea is exactly what it sounds like! If you’re almost ready for baby to arrive, this is the tea for you! This red raspberry leaf tea blend is made for the last few weeks of pregnancy especially, as well as the first few days after giving birth. Red Raspberry leaf is known in the prenatal world as labor prep magic. There have been scientific studies that show the following:

  • It shortens labor
  • It has immune-boosting nutrients that assist in healing after labor
  • It helps tone the uterus to make contractions more effective.

Our website suggests that you drink Ripe and Ready warm to hot from 38 weeks until giving birth, then sip it iced during recovery. You can also drink this after pregnancy for digestive assistance!

Which teas are good for lactation?

Birds and Bees Teas has a couple of teas that are good for the breastfeeding journey. Our Lady of La Leche is wonderful for the fourth trimester. During weeks 39-40, and once baby has arrived, you should drink this blend, made with herbs that were traditionally used to increase the quantity and quality of milk (galactagogues) as well as support a nursing mother's overall health. (NOTE: Most breastfeeding moms do not need herbs to establish a good supply. If you feel that you are not making enough milk, please get support and information from a Lactation Consultant or your local La Leche League Leader.)

Our Milk Be Gone tea is used for the exact opposite reasons. If you are a mama that feels like her breastfeeding journey is ending, our refreshing sage blend tea is a great way to support your system during the transition to weaning from breastfeeding.

Which teas are good for all stages?

The following teas can be drunk before, during, and after the pregnancy journey:

  • Inner Peace
  • Lighthearted
  • Family Immunity
  • Easy Naps & Calm Nights
  •

    Herbalist Recommendations

Our CEO, founder, and talented herbalist, Jen Roth, tuned in to give us this information! Her advice:

“I like to recommend alternating the following throughout all of pregnancy for flavor shifts: Grounded, Peaceful Pregnancy, and Ripe & Ready.”
